Our Business Partner

Sharon Richens is an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for best practice Injury Management strategies, Workplace Wellbeing and Employee Resilience programmes.

In 2014 Sharon was invited to partner with the ABC, to deliver Happy Body at Work – an evidenced based wellness program designed for workplaces seeking to improve energy, resilience and performance of their people. She has been involved in the product development from early inception and has since delivered the program nationally to companies including PwC, Optus, Commonwealth Bank Australia, Sydney University, CSIRO & Sydney Trains.

Sharon is a highly sought after speaker and in 2014 presented at the National Workplace Health Conference and The Positive School Conference, Sydney.  She is also a lecturer at Charles Sturt University in the area of Occupational Physiotherapy.

Outside of work she is heavily involved in her local community and has a passion for rural health. In 2015 she had the privilege of travelling to Tanzania as part of a volunteer medical team at The School of St Jude- performing medical checks on over 1800 children. Her twin daughters are the other great joy of her life.

It has been a wonderful experience to have been involved in and so hard to believe that it’s coming to an end. I wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank you for turning your Happy Body at Work into such an incredible wellbeing program in Happy People and making it possible for our nurses and midwives to benefit from such a worthwhile experience. The response has been overwhelming, not only from our own nurses and midwives who took part but from friends and colleagues at other organisations wanting to be involved in Happy People. It is clear there is a need for something like this within the healthcare setting.

For me, it has been fabulous way of realising my passion for helping those that look after others. As a manager I am always wanting the best for my team. They work so hard and always with the intention of looking after those in need. As nurses they don’t expect much, they don’t get fancy offices, big bonuses or corporate days out, so to be given the opportunity to look after themselves and one another in their workplace through Happy People has been a truly uplifting experience. And for me, if there was the opportunity to work in this space for further rollouts I would be very excited to have the opportunity to do so.

Thank you for taking the time to prepare and travel to Mt Eliza to present to our group. We really appreciate hearing from you and all gained great motivation from your message. Your presentation was fantastic!

Everyone was very impressed and we are trying to embed little changes in our day. Emails and communications are flying around with some key phrases such as Shine your light.

It was a delightful session, informative, presented exceptionally well, and broken down into such a simple message.

I particularly loved your introduction outlining what was to come and that the aim was to focus on ourselves. Thank you for making everyone feel comfortable and empowering us to be aware of little changes we can make to improve our health.

‘Sharon came and presented to our team in December 2016. She taught us a lot about how we can make small changes regarding moving more, our sleep patterns AND helped us understand how much we actually sit all day.
People have made changes with standing up in group meetings, having stand up meetings and being conscious to get up and move around.
